This weekend you can get a free prom dress in Meriden, tour a Southington farm, help end multiple sclerosis in Cheshire or attend a beer and wine tasting fundraiser in Wallingford.


Rotary 5K

When: 10 a.m. Sunday

Where: Hubbard Park, 979 W. Main St.

Description: The 18th annual Rotary 5K in Hubbard Park is free for kids 12 and under. Tickets are available at www.racemine.com.

Springtime family tea

When: 2 p.m. Saturday

Where: St. John Lutheran Preschool, 520 Paddock Ave.

Description: The second annual Springtime Family Tea event includes tea, treats, music, crafts, family photos and a raffle. All proceeds benefit the preschool. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children.

Prom dress giveaway

When: 12-3 p.m. Sunday

Where: Blown Out Hair Salon, 690 E. Main St.

Description: Prom Angels will be at Blown Out on Sunday to give out free dresses to high school students. Email promangels@aol.com for more information.

Bird walk

When: 7:30-9:30 a.m. Sunday

Where: Meriden Linear Trail, 540 Oregon Road

Description: Take a walk along the shores of Hanover Pond and look for Bald Eagles and other spring migrant birds.


Beer and wine tasting fundraiser

When: 5:30 p.m. Saturday

Where: PNA Park, 171 North Plains Industrial Road

Description: Beer and wine tasting to raise funds for 12U Cardinals Baseball. Tickets are $40.

Bark for Life paint night

When: 6:30 p.m. Saturday

Where: Splat Art Studio, 106 S. Colony St.

Description: Support Bark for Life and paint a masterpiece. Tickets are $40.

Volunteer firefighter open house

When: 12-2 p.m. Sunday

Where: North Farms Station 7, 864 North Farms Road

Description: Learn how to become a firefighter, EMS responder or a member of the town’s explorer post.

Paint your pet

When: 6:30 p.m. Saturday

Where: Catalyst Art Studio, 88 Center St.

Description: Reserve a seat, send a photo of your pet to alyssa@catalyststartstudio.com and paint a sketch. Call 203-265-2577.


Camp Sloper open house

When: 10-2 p.m. Saturday

Where: YMCA Camp Sloper, 1000 East St.

Description: Tour the camp, ride on the Sloper Express and test out the “Super Slide.”

Open farm day

When: 12-5 p.m. Saturday

Where: Bradley Mountain Soaps, 537 Shuttle Meadow Road

Description: Tour the farm, make your own goat milk bath fizzles, or bond with the goat herd.


Walk MS

When: Check in begins at 9 a.m. Sunday, walk begins at 10 a.m.

Where: Cheshire High School, 525 S. Main St.

Description: Team up to with friends, family and loved ones to raise money to end multiple sclerosis.
