BRISTOL — A three-game sweep of Bristol Eastern on Wednesday night has the Southington girls volleyball team off to a 3-0 start.The Blue Knights dispatched the Lancers 25-16, 25-23 and 25-17 in a CCC interdivisional match.Defensively, Nolyn Allen led the way for Southington with 23 digs. Haley Larrabee added nine and Jenna Martin was good for seven.Offensively, setter Steph Zera spread the ball in dishing 25 assists. Erica Bruno and Sarah Myrick both had six kills. Hannah Zelina landed five. Zera also served up four aces. Cheshire 3, Mercy 0: The Rams jumped to 2-0 with a 25-12, 25-5 and 25-14 sweep of the Tigers in Cheshire.Cheshire was lethal at the service line. Elena Piran landed seven aces and five kills. Karly Pedbereznak had five aces and 10 assists.Lindsey Abramson collected four kills, three aces and three digs. The Rams had 17 total aces. Goodwin Tech 3, Wilcox Tech 2: Host Goodwin rallied from a 2-1 deficit to beat the Indians 16-25, 25-20, 22-25, 25-21 and 15-6.Nicole Tiezzi had 24 assists, seven digs and four aces for Wilcox (1-1). Karina Torres was a rock with 23 digs, eight assists and five aces. Chloe LaBissoniere added 10 assists, four digs and four kills. Guilford 3, Sheehan 1: The Titans suffered their first loss in this SCC matchup in Guilford. After taking the opening game 29-27, Sheehan fell 25-22, 25-16 and 25-13.Sydney Hunt hammered 12 kills for the Titans. Carolyn Biel posted seven kills, seven digs and three aces.Emily Musso corraled 26 digs. Karie Dietle dished 25 assists. North Haven 3, Lyman Hall 0: The Trojans dipped to 1-2 with the SCC loss in North Haven. Game scores were 25-23, 25-7 and 25-19.Avery LaChance had nine digs and four kills for LH. Nicole Albert dished 12 assists while getting to eight digs. Choate 3, Cheshire Academy 0: The Wild Boars swept the Cats 25-21, 25-19, 25-20 in Cheshire. Lexe Holmes had eight kills and three blocks for the Cats. Sydney Racevicius racked up four aces and three kills. Boys soccer GFA 2, Cheshire Academy 0: The Cats fell to 0-2 with the loss in Cheshire. Owen Kempton made 16 saves. Girls soccer Middletown 3, Maloney 0: McKenzie Wrinn kept the Spartans in the game with 19 saves, but Maloney still fell to 0-2 with the CCC South Colonial loss at Falcon Field.Amalia Sessoms had two goals for the Blue Dragons. Sheehan 2, Branford 1: Sam Larkin converted a free kick from Kelsey Burr in the final minute of regulation to snap a 1-1 tie and lift the Titans to a dramatic SCC victory in their season opener.Burr scored the first goal for Sheehan in the first half off an assist from Grace Waldron.
