SOUTHINGTON — Hop Haus restaurant reopened Tuesday evening after a car crashed through a wall early Sunday morning.

Hop Haus, at 22 W. Main St. in Plantsville, was closed Sunday and the building was unoccupied when Nathan Cannon, 22, of Bristol, drove a Volkswagen Jetta into the east side of the building, police said.

Restaurant owner Michael Miller said Monday the car went through an exterior brick wall and damaged furniture and the bar. He said the hole was repaired and the building was deemed safe on Monday, though interior repairs were ongoing.

On Tuesday, restaurant manager Nathan Guerrin said the major repair work was done and only a small section of the floor was still blocked off.

“Beer is flowing, food is being passed down,” he said.

The crash is under investigation. No charges had been filed as of Monday.
