Popular Hartford grinder shop sets sights on Berlin

BERLIN — The popular Maple Giant Grinder, formerly located in Hartford, could be moving to Berlin by the end of the year.

A local economic development official confirmed reports that the grinder shop is considering relocating to Berlin.

“They are currently pursuing our neck of the woods,” said Chris Edge, town economic development director.

An earlier report from WFSB Channel 3 said “they’re close to finding a place in Berlin and could open at the end of the year.”

Edge said the location was not finalized and the owner, Richard Lavoie, is looking at other towns.

“There’s a couple spots in town that would great if they chose Berlin,” Edge said.

Maple Giant Grinder closed on Adelaide Street in Hartford last month.
