MERIDEN — An injured duck eluded rescuers in Hubbard Park, Miguel Cardona, now a top administrator, began teaching at Israel Putnam School and hospital workers prepared to move to the new MidState Medical Center. Meanwhile, work began to rebuild on the site a natural gas explosion on Lima Street and Ed Walsh players competed in the junior league World Series in Michigan.
