The Berlin Robotics team (the Techno-Nuts) are building a robot to compete in FIRST Robotics competitions throughout New England.
FIRST Robotics is a program which allows middle school and high school students to explore science and technology. The FIRST Robotics Competition teams professionals and young people to solve an engineering design problem. Teams have six-weeks to design, build and program a robot to achieve a task and compete in a sports arena.
The Berlin Robotics Techno-Nuts have scheduled a Savers donation drive to help offset the cost of materials, competition fees, and travel expenses. The team is collecting clothing and household items, including CDs, DVDs, books and sporting goods, that will be turned over to Savers, who will in turn make a monetary donation to the team.
Donations may be dropped off Saturday, Feb. 24, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 25, noon to 4 p.m. at Pistol Creek, 600 Spruce Brook Road.
