At a recent meeeting, the Berlin Town Council voted to move forward with the $750,000 state grant for the planning and design of a new community and senior center in town.
At the request of Speaker of the House Joe Aresimowicz (D-Berlin/Southington), the grant for $750,000 was put on the State Bond Commission agenda for its July 25 meeting, where it was overwhelmingly approved by the panel.
Aresimowicz expects that every aspect of the community will be involved in the planning process of the community and senior center. A task force will be set up by the town to provide input from all stakeholders of the community, in order to make decisions on what it should look like, what amenities and services it should include, and where it should be located.
