BERLIN — The owner of the former the adult entertainment club Centerfolds is looking to open a new restaurant on the property.
Demolition and building permits have been issued for 1861 Wilbur Cross Highway for an estimated value of around $150,000. Interior walls and floors will be removed, which is part of a plan to open a new restaurant, according to the permits.
Property owner Mario Pirozzoli was not available to comment.
Centerfolds has been closed since January.
The club, which featured exotic dancers, was the subject of a police investigation in 2016. The investigation found the club violated ordinances after a police report detailed inappropriate touching and simulated sex acts involving performers. The town suspended Centerfolds’ license to have performers on site for 21 days.
The Department of Consumer Protection also found the conduct to be in violation of its liquor permit and issued a $3,000 fine in 2017.
Pirozzoli also owns the adjacent vacant Pure Pizza building. The Building Department has not received any permit applications for that property.
