Berlin police offer women’s self-defense course

The Berlin Police Department has scheduled a women’s self-defense tactics course, Dec. 11 through 13, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Berlin High School.

Officer Tyler Cyr and Detective Ted Fuini, certified instructors of R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense), system plan to instruct the class.

The course involves three, three-hour blocks of instruction, designed to work in tandem to progressively build self-defense skills.

Attendance is required for all three sessions. The course consists of both lecture and practical skills that require moderate physical activity.

The course is open to women – age 16-plus – who work or reside in Berlin. The course is free, and is limited to the first 20 participants.

Deadline to register is Saturday, Dec. 1.
