Eagle Scout project transforms Hatchery Brook campsite



Evan M. Roccapriore, son of David M. and Lynn Roccapriore, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in Boy Scouts.

Roccapriore began his scouting career in 2009 as a Tiger Cub in Den 3 of Pack 41 at Griswold Elementary School and achieved all the ranks of Cub Scouts as well as the Light of Christ and Parvuli Dei religious awards, Arrow of Light Award and the Webelos Super Achiever Award.

As a member of Troop 24. Roccapriore has earned the Ad Altare Dei Religious Award, advanced through all seven ranks and achieved 37 merit badges. He has held the leadership positions of Chaplain Aide, Troop Historian, Patrol Leader and Web Master. 

Roccapriore’s Eagle project was the renovation of the Scheer campsite at Hatchery Brook. The project consisted of cutting tall grass, clearing brush around the cabin, removing bird and bees nests, scraping and painting both the interior and exterior of the cabin, repainting a picnic table, building and painting a second picnic table and building a permanent fire pit with benches. 

Roccapriore is twice a President’s Education Award Recipient; in 2016 under President Barack Obama and in 2017 under President Donald Trump. He is in his sophomore year at the Intensive Education Academy in West Hartford.
