CHESHIRE — An inmate at Cheshire Correctional Institute faces charges after police said he assaulted another inmate in February, breaking his nose.
Marvin Blunt, 30, was charged Thursday with second-degree assault, disorderly conduct and interfering with an officer.
On Feb. 2, state police responded to Cheshire Correctional Institute for a report that Blunt assaulted another inmate the previous day.
The the other inmate tried to run away from Blunt at first, but tripped and hit his head on a table, according to Blunt’s arrest warrant. Blunt reportedly assaulted the other inmate while he was on the floor.
Medical records showed the inmate suffered a broken nose and cuts to his right eye, nose and forehead, the warrant said. Prison staff reviewed video of the incident and noted Blunt was the aggressor.
Blunt was arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on Thursday. Bond was set at $50,000 and Blunt is due back in court on Aug. 23.
