Police: Hamden man tried to strike car with children in it, fled from Cheshire officers

CHESHIRE — A Hamden man faces charges after police said he tried to strike a vehicle with children in it before leading officers on a pursuit.

Adam Saars, 40, of 1454 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, was charged Friday with risk of injury to a minor, reckless endangerment, engaging police in pursuit, reckless driving, breach of peace, interfering with police and operating under suspension.

Saars was arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on Monday. Bond was set at $35,000 and he is due back in court on June 6.

Police responded to the area of 957 S. Main St. on April 25 for a report of a disturbance in the parking lot. Police tried to stop a pickup truck involved in the incident that was being driven by Saars, but it sped off, according to Saars’ arrest warrant.

A woman driving a Honda also involved in the incident told police Saars tried to hit her car, which had two children in it, the warrant said. An off-duty Meriden police officer confirmed her account.
