CHESHIRE — U.S. Sen. Christopher Murphy’s residence on Paul Ney Road has sold, after having been on the market for a little more than a month.
The sale price for the second-term senator’s now former home was $478,000, according to a listing on the website for real estate brokerage firm Coldwell Banker.
Town property transfer records list the property’s buyers as Cameron and Jaclyn Condon.
The property was listed for sale in June. Its original listed price was $519,900. The price when the property was sold on July 17 was just over 8% lower than its listed price.
Communications officials in Murphy’s senate office confirmed the sale had been finalized.
“The family is currently house hunting in the Hartford area to be closer to family and to the office,” officials said in a statement. Murphy’s in-state office is in Hartford. His immediate family lives in Wethersfield.
The senator’s family is staying at another residence owned by his parents in Old Lyme while the hunt for a new home is ongoing, officials confirmed.
The two-floor house, with three bedrooms, three full baths and 2,550 square feet of living space, is located on 1.1 acres along a quiet cul-de-sac near Cheshire’s town center. It was built in 1951.
Marilyn Rock, of Calcagni Real Estate, was the property’s listing agent. Rock, responding to a reporter’s email inquiry, deferred comment regarding the sale to Murphy’s senate office.
According to town property records, Murphy and his wife, Catherine Holahan, had purchased the property in 2010 for $477,500.
Murphy, prior to his election to the U.S. Senate in 2012, had been a three-term congressman, representing Connecticut’s 5th District.
