State police investigating officer-involved shooting in Cheshire

CHESHIRE— State police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Friday night after a man barricaded himself in a home.

About 7:30 p.m., police responded to a reported domestic disturbance at 137 Fairway Drive.

When officers arrived, they encountered a 29-year-old man armed with a handgun. State police said the man did not comply with commands from Cheshire officers and barricaded himself in the residence.

During the standoff, state police said a Cheshire officer fired at least one shot, striking the man at least once.

The man suffered a non-life threatening injury and was taken to a local hospital. He was also taken into custody on charges related to the disturbance.

State police said no officers were injured.
