Gardeners select books for display at library

Daytime Gardeners Helen Nado, vice president, and Pat Cramer help select gardening books that the library staff will put on display for people to check-out as they begin preparations for the gardening season.

Even though we have had recent snow on the ground, the days are already much longer, and some of the early bulb flowers are starting to show. Recognizing it is time to get ready for gardening, the Daytime Gardeners are collaborating with the North Haven Memorial Library to display a selection of gardening books that will be sure to inspire you to at least create a small container with flowers, vegetables, or a mixture of both. However, many who have the space and motivation, will prepare gardens for produce and beauty.

Members of the Daytime Gardeners spent some time at the library browsing through the extensive section of gardening books. A collection of great books has been chosen and the library staff will put them on display, near the check-out counter, for your easy selection. A wide variety of topics are included, and we did not forget families with children! Involving children at an early age is the best way to help them develop an appreciation for nature and the environment. They might even eat some new vegetables if they have the opportunity to grow them!

The Daytime Gardeners of North Haven is a member of the Federated Garden Clubs of CT, Inc, the New England Garden Clubs, and the National Garden Clubs, Inc. New members are always welcome. Contact Daytime Gardeners for more info at (203) 239-1557.
