Students win National Garden Clubs Poetry Contest



On Saturday Aug. 25, North Haven Garden Club Youth Chair and Poetry Contest Coordinator Cindy Golia presented gift bags to the five winners of this years National Garden Clubs Poetry Contest "Pop Goes The Seed." The poetry contest was launched in April at the Earth Day Celebration held at the North Haven High School.  Its was an enthusiastic send off with any students and parents showing interest in the contest. Five winners were selected from the entries received in the grade categories which represented grades one, two, five and seven. Gift bags containing age appropriate activity books, crayons, markers and colored pencils along with a gift card to Barns and Noble were awarded to each of the winners. 

The winners poems will be sent off the to the Federated Garden Club, regional winners are considered in the judging for national winners.  All of the winning entries will be complied into a booklet, which will be made available to the winners.
