POP The CORN Fantastic

POP The CORN Fantastic

The Wallingford Garden Club Youth Committee hosted a wonderful activity at the Wallingford Public Library Children's room featuring popcorn. Deb Tagliatela is chair for this group and has many talented garden club members working with her. These activities are free to the public. Assisting in this program were Sue Hilinski, Christine Salisbury, Kathy Bryson, Priscilla Perrin, Dina Rawling and Sue Laursen. Many books about popcorn were featured and Sue Hillinski read The Popcorn Book to the audience. To everyone's delight, Sue Hillinski wrote The Popcorn Song, sung to " I"m A Little Teapot," which everyone knows and all joined in singing, clapping and jumping.

Amy Wexler was a surprise guest who shared a book her father, Jerome Wexler, helped write by taking photos of popcorn. He has done the photography for many books on plants, so Amy shared stories about him. Following this program, children and parents were treated to an art activity about popcorn. While doing that the Garden Club members popped popcorn and provided a feast of popcorn with many flavorings and juice. What a grand afternoon for all!
