Washington Middle School in Meriden hosts Community Garden Harvest Dinner

On Tuesday, Oct. 3,  students from the Community Garden Program gathered at Washington Middle School to share delicious, nutritious foods with their friends and family.  Beginning last spring members of Beat the Street and students from WMS began growing, maintaining and then harvesting foods at the community garden on Liberty Street. The Harvest dinner was a culminating project run by Family and Consumer Science teacher, Danielle Rios and Executive Director at BTS, Larry Pelletier.   Students used foods from the garden to create recipes that were researched online and then prepared and cooked in the kitchens at Washington Middle School which are used for Mrs. Rios’s food and nutrition classes.
