Things to Do – Editor’s Picks: Annual NFL Players' Weekend hosted by United Way of Meriden and Wallingford

WALLINGFORD — You can mingle with professional football players at the upcoming NFL Players’ Weekend starting Friday night.

The event benefits the United Way of Meriden and Wallingford.

“We’re very excited,” said Maria Harlow, executive director of United Way of Meriden and Wallingford. “We get teams from around the country.”

This is the eleventh year the non-profit will be hosting the football-filled weekend.

The weekend starts with a silent auction and buffet dinner Friday at 6 pm. at Zandri’s Stillwood Inn, 1074 S. Colony Road. NFL players like Daniel Etling from the New England Patriots, Justin Watson of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Teo Redding from the Green Bay Packers are among those expected to attend. Guests will have the opportunity to purchase team memorabilia.

“It’s a great night,” Harlow said.

On Saturday a youth clinic at Choate will be held at noon for children to train with the pros. In the evening families can bowl with the players at Wallingford Bowl, 980 N. Colony Road.
