MERIDEN — Thor is a 1-year-old orange domestic short-haired cat up for adoption at the Meriden Humane Society, 311 Murdock Ave.

Shelter employees found Thor a couple weeks ago dropped off by his anonymous owner in front of the shelter’s building, located next to Interstate 91.

“They just left him out there so when we came in early one morning, he was just laying there,” shelter manager Carlos Melendez said. “We’re just glad he didn't go off to the highway.”

Melendez described Thor as a “really mellow, really chill” cat that is “well-socialized” and gets along well with other cats.

“Even though he’s a little bit younger, he’s really affectionate toward people, easy to handle. He doesn’t mind anyone coming up to him and petting him,” he said.

Thor was recently fixed and doesn’t have any known health issues. He weighs about 12 pounds, which is a little more than normal, Melendez said.
