This weekend you can embrace your love of the arts with a gallery and choir performance in Meriden, give back to the YMCA and local law enforcement in Southington and Cheshire, and enjoy some comedy in Wallingford, among other things.

Pigments of your Imagination Gallery 

When: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday 

Where: Gallery 53, 53 Colony St. 

Description: “Pigments of your Imagination” features 37 paintings, collages, and photography from local artists. The show is free to view.

New England Chamber Choir Performance

When: 4 p.m., Sunday

Where: Center Congregational Church, 474 Broad St. 

Description: Members of the New England Chamber Choir will perform “Bach in Winter.” Free admission. A reception will follow the performance.

Kids Basketball Competition 

When: 2 p.m., Saturday

Where: Meriden Boys & Girls Club, 15 Lincoln St. 

Description: The Meriden Parks & Recreation Department will host a basketball competition for girls and boys ages 9 to 15. Registration begins at 2 p.m. and the competition begins at 2:30 p.m. Six winners will go to a statewide Connecticut Recreation & Parks Association competition on April 7.

Lions Club 4th Annual Comedy Show

When: 6:30-11 p.m., Friday

Where: Wallingford Elks Lodge, 148 S. Main St. 

Description: The Wallingford Lions Club will host comedians Billy Wynn and R.C. Smith. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., dinner starts at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. There will be raffles, a live auction and cash bar as well. Admission is $38 per person for dinner and the show.

G Herbo and Lil Durk at Oakdale 

When: 8 p.m., Saturday

Where: Oakdale Theatre, 95 S. Turnpike Rd. 

Description: Tickets start at $45.

Healthy Family Fun Fest

When: 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday

Where: Aqua Turf Club, 556 Mulberry St. 

Description: There is no admission for this “fun fest” which includes health information, speakers, screenings and demonstrations. Topics include healthy eating, healthy minds, aging well and sports medicine.

Tip a Cop

When: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday 

Where: Chip’s Family Restaurant, 99 Executive Blvd. 

Description: Local police officers will trade in their uniforms for aprons to serve patrons at Chip’s. All money donated during the event will go to Special Olympics Connecticut.

Despicable Me 3 Movie Night

When: 6:15- 8:45 p.m., Friday

Where: Derynoski Elementary School, 240 Main St. 

Description: The school’s PTO will host a movie night with snacks and drinks to purchase. Admission is $1 at the door.

YMCA Annual Ice Bucket Challenge 

When: 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday

Where: Bartlem Park, 520 S. Main St. 

Description: The annual bucket challenge raises money for the YMCA Camp Scholarship Fund. Participants are doused with a bucket of ice water outdoors. Register through the Y.
