Immerse your family in holiday spirit with events throughout the weekend. There will be holiday fairs and festivals across the region and plenty of opportunities to meet Santa.

Holiday Craft
and Book Fair

When: 5-8 p.m., Friday

Where: Thomas Hooker School, 70 Overlook Rd. 

Description: The annual fair will feature locally made gifts, kids craft table, food available for purchase, a basket raffle, a Scholastic Book Fair, and a visit from Santa. It  benefit the school's parent teacher group. 

Breakfast with Santa

When: 8-10 a.m., Saturday

Where: Meriden YMCA gymnasium, 110 W. Main St. 

Description: Have breakfast and meet Santa at the YMCA. Food is free for Meriden YMCA Child Care families. $3 per person for non-members. 

Christmas in the Village Craft Fair

When: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday

Where: Hanover School, 208 Main St. 

Description: The holiday craft fair will be held in the school gymnasium during the South Meriden Christmas Village Celebration. Over 25 vendors will be participating. 

Christmas in the Village

When: 2-5:30 p.m., Saturday

Where: Main Street, South Meriden 

Description: The event will feature horse drawn carriage rides, a tree lighting, bonfire, entertainment, winter foods, including baked apples and hot chocolate, as well as pictures with Santa. The Santa parade starts at 2 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring a canned food item for the Meriden Soup kitchen, lightly used books for donation, prom dresses for Prom Angels, and lightly used coats for the Meriden Neighborhood Police Officers to collect.


Reindeer Rally

When: 10:30-11:30 a.m., Saturday

Where: Begins at Johanna Manfreda Fishbein Park

Description: This second annual rally will include a one mile "stroll" through downtown Wallingford. It will begin and end at Johanna Manfreda Fishbein Park. Register at Wallingford Center, Inc., Youth & Social Services or Park & Recreation Department. Registration is $5 per person or $10 per family. Breakfast sandwiches will be provided by Chick-fil-A.

Local Author Showcase

When: 10 a.m. to noon Saturday

Where: Wallingford Public Library, 200 North Main St. 

Description: Local authors are invited to come for an informal meet and greet to mingle, get advice on writing or just talk about books. 


Polar Express Night

When: 6:30-9 p.m., Friday

Where: Derynoski Elementary School, 240 Main St. 

Description: Hosted by the school PTO, "The Polar Express" will be screened at 7:15 p.m., with hot cocoa and cookies starting at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $2, which includes hot cocoa and a cookie. 

Children's Craft Fair 

When: 10 a.m. to noon Saturday

Where: Southington Public Library, 255 Main St. 

Description: Unique handmade items crafted by or for children will be available for purchase throughout the library. Everything is priced $5 or under. 

Open Farm Day 

Connecticut Christmas Gift Show

When: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday

Where: Aqua Turf, 556 Mulberry St. 

Description: The third annual show will have over 250 diverse vendor booths, including handmade food and beverage, jewelry, stocking stuffers, electronics, games, apparel and collectibles. Free food and drink samples will be available. Admission is $8 for adults and children under 12-years-old are free. 


Holiday Library After Hours

When: 5-7:30 p.m., Friday

Where: Cheshire Public Library, Mary Baldwin Room (Main Level), 104 Main St. 

Description: The library will screen "The Polar Express" and have some seasonal activities for children and parents. Friends of the Library will have pizza, snacks, and drinks available for purchase. There is no admission fee, but a suggested donation of $5 per family to help offset costs. Register on the library website. Kids are welcome to wear pajamas. 

Christmas Fair at Elim Park

When: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday

Where: Elim Park Place, 150 Cook Hill Rd. 

Description: The fair will include Swedish breads, a bake sale, artisan crafts, a tag sale, strolling carolers, and children's activities. Santa and Mrs. Claus with be there for pictures, as well as a model train display by Mohegan Pequot Model Railroad Club. At 2 p.m., the theater will present Rock This Town band Christmas Spectacular. Tickets for the show at $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, and children under 12-years-old are free. Meet Santa

When: 2- 5pm, Saturday

Where: Dietrich Gardens, 1818 Highland Ave. 

Description: The Cheshire Lions Club hosts an opportunity to meet Santa and take pictures. There will be free hot cocoa and cookies. Donations are welcome, but not required. The garden center will have Christmas trees, wreaths and other holiday plants for sale. 

Annual Tree Lighting

When: 5:45-6:15 p.m., Sunday

Where: First Congregational Church, 111 Church Dr. 

Description: The annual tree lighting and community caroling is hosted by the Cheshire Parks and Recreation Department. The Cheshire Community Chorus will lead a carol sing-a-long beginning at 5:45 p.m. The Junior Women's club will serve refreshments and Santa will visit. 


Holiday Light Fantasia

When: 5-9 p.m., Sunday through Thursday and 5-10 p.m., Friday and Saturday

Where: Goodwin Park, 1130 Maple Ave. 

Description: The drive-through wonderland of over 1 million lights is $15 per car to benefit the Channel 3 Kids Camp.
