Section of Columbia Street in Meriden closed after truck crashes into pole



MERIDEN — A pickup truck crashed into a pole on Columbia Street Monday afternoon, knocking out power to about 25 customers.

There were no reported injuries.

The accident occurred about 2:45 p.m. near Colony Street. Firefighters on scene reported the pole was cracked in half.

A section of Columbia Street was closed between Colony and Lincoln streets.

About 25 Eversource Energy customers lost power. It was not immediately clear if the outages were connected to the crash.
