City woman seriously injured in wrong-way crash on I-691 in Meriden

MERIDEN — State police say a city woman was seriously injured in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 691 Monday morning.

Meghan Claire Perrin, 34, of 155 Bee St., Meriden, was taken to MidState Medical Center with serious injuries before being flown to Hartford Hospital via Life Star, state police said. Perrin is in critical condition as of 2:30 p.m., according to Hartford Hospital.

About 3 a.m., emergency crews responded to I-691 east in the area of exit 11 for a report of a crash. A Honda SUV, driven by Perrin, was traveling west on Interstate 691 east and collided head-on with a tractor-trailer, driven by Micah Newton, 42, of Brewster, New York, state police said.

Perrin suffered serious injuries in the crash, state police said. Newton, and two passengers inside the tractor-trailer, did not report any injuries.

State police are investigating the crash.

I-691 was closed while authorities were on scene. The highway reopened about 8:15 a.m.
