Meriden police: Wallingford woman attempted to strike man with car

MERIDEN — A Wallingford woman faces charges after police say she attempted to hit a man with a car on New Year’s Eve.

Desiree Brittingham, 44, of 64 Pond Hill Road, Wallingford, was charged with criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace and reckless driving. Her bond was set at $25,000.

On New Year’s Eve about 11 p.m., police responded to Blackstone Village for a report of a car chasing after a man. Police arrived and identified Brittingham as the driver of the car.

A witness told police Brittingham drove on a sidewalk and attempted to strike the man with a car, police said. Officers checked the area and found tire tracks on several curbs and a lawn.
