MERIDEN — The fire marshal’s office says the cause of a fatal Thanksgiving house fire on Carpenter Avenue will not be determined due to damage the home sustained.
Deputy Fire Marshal John Yacovino said the cause of the fire is undetermined due to damage at the home and a lack of witnesses.
One person was killed in the Nov. 23 fire at 161 Carpenter Ave. The person has not yet been identified by authorities and the home has been deemed a total loss.
The two-story, single-family house was ablaze when engines arrived during the early-morning hours.
“Due to the large volume of fire and the amount of water needed in the area, mutual aid tankers were called in to supplement water supply,” Dunn said.
Yacovino said eight investigators worked for several hours during the initial part of the investigation.
