MERIDEN — The fire marshal and city and state police are investigating an early Thursday house fire on Carpenter Avenue

Deputy Fire Chief Ryan Dunn said the home has been deemed a total loss. It was not immediately clear if anyone was injured.

A two-story, single-family home at 161 Carpenter Ave. was fully involved when engines arrived around 3:15 a.m.,  Dunn said in a statement.

“Due to the large volume of fire and the amount of water needed in the area, mutual aid tankers were called in to supplement water supply,” Dunn said.

The city fire marshal’s office, Meriden police and state police are investigating the cause and origin of the fire.

Additional information wasn’t immediately available.
