Former Meriden dentist to serve at least 7 years for sexual assault, possession of child porn

MERIDEN — A Wallingford man and former city dentist was sentenced to up to 15 years in prison for possession of child pornography, sexual assault and intimidating a witness.

Jeffrey Krahling, 52, of 94 Summerhill Road, was sentenced in New Haven Superior Court on Nov. 7 to 15 years in prison, suspended after seven years. His prison sentence will be followed by 10 years probation.

Krahling pleaded guilty under the Alford Doctrine in August to first-degree possession of child pornography, intimidation of a witness, third-degree burglary, tampering with a witness, and two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault. Under the Alford Doctrine, Krahling does not agree with all the state’s evidence but acknowledges there is enough for conviction.

The sexual assault charges stem from incidents in April and September 2016 at Krahling’s dental practice at 12 Curtis St. in Meriden. Female patients reported that Krahling wrapped his legs around their heads and made grinding motions.

The tampering, intimidation and burglary charges stem from an incident on Dec. 9, 2016 in which Krahling was accused of breaking into an accuser’s home. A neighbor saw Krahling outside the home and he fled from police at the scene.

The child pornography charge arose from a state police investigation on a file sharing network. State police discovered Krahling had 38 images and 15 videos of child pornography on a laptop.
