Authorities: Meriden man sold narcotics to police witness

MERIDEN — A city man faces drug charges after authorities say he sold crack cocaine in August.

Preston Pombia, 29, of 80 Lanouette St., was charged with sale of narcotics, conspiracy to commit sale of narcotics and possession of narcotics.

In early August, a police witness was issued $40 for a controlled narcotics purchase after authorities received complaints of drug dealing in the area of Cook Avenue.

The witness went to Cook Avenue and Bronson Avenue and met with a person who police say often serves as a middle man for drug dealers, according to an arrest warrant. The person instructed the witness to go to a residence on New Hanover Avenue.

Police set up surveillance in the area and observed the witness purchase $40 worth of cocaine from Pomaiba, the warrant said.
