MERIDEN — A local man faces weapons charges in connection with an incident in 2016.
Trayquan Ford, 23, of 281 Grove St., was charged June 10 with criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of ammunition and carrying a pistol without a permit.
On July 1, 2016, police responded to Willow Street for reports of gunshots and found several shell casings at the nearby intersection of Olive, Grant and Veteran streets, police said. There were no reported injuries.
Ford was initially detained as a suspect and police took gunshot residue samples from Ford, according to a police report. At the time, Ford was charged with violating probation.
On July 18, 2016, Ford was charged with illegal possession of a pistol. On Oct. 27, 2016, a forensic laboratory said that the firearm recovered from Ford on July 18 was matched to four incidents in Meriden between June and July 2016, according to an arrest warrant. Police said Ford was present at two of the scenes, including the one on July 1, 2016.
Ford appeared in Meriden Superior Court on Tuesday. The case was transferred to New Haven gun court for July 10.
