Meriden man sentenced to 30 years for sexual assault, possession of child pornography



MERIDEN — A city man was sentenced Tuesday to 30 years in prison, suspended after 20 years, for sexually assaulting a 4-year-old boy and for possession of child pornography.

Scott Thieringer, 48, of 47 Hubbard St., was also sentenced to 10 years probation, according to a state Division of Criminal Justice statement.

He was charged with possession of child pornography in July 2017 and first-degree sexual assault in October 2017. He entered nolo contendere pleas this August.

In June 2017, Meriden police began investigating the possible possession of child pornography after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the statement said.

Police executed search and seizure warrants at Thieringer’s residence, and found videos of Thieringer sexually assaulting a then 4-year-old boy, the statement said. Authorities also discovered and identified 123 videos and photographs of minors as child pornography.
