Meriden Police Department welcomes 4 new officers



MERIDEN — The police department has welcomed four new officers.

Officer William Lourash served in the Army for six years and had two tours in Afghanistan. Officer Paola Garces was born and raised in Colombia. She has a college degree in general studies, and previously worked as a waitress, a real estate specialist, in construction and in nursing.

Officer John Johnson served in the Air Force and Air Force Reserves as an Air Transportation Specialist. Officer Julian Martino previously worked in landscaping and is in the process of finishing his college degree.

Officers will be required to complete two weeks of in-house training and at least 400 hours of field training.
