MERIDEN — A porch fire displaced an unknown number of people and caused extensive damage to the outside of a three-family house Saturday night.
Firefighters were dispatched around 11:45 p.m. to 15 Cambridge St. for a fire on a back porch on the third floor.
Fire Chief Kenneth Morgan said Sunday that no injuries were reported. The fire spread into the building, damaging a third floor apartment, he said.
The first and second floor apartments were not damaged. Residents on the third floor received emergency lodging assistance from the Red Cross.
A total of 12 people live in the building, Morgan said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
