Officials say a Meriden man who went missing Sunday night in the Connecticut River has been presumed dead.
Chris Collibee, spokesman for the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, said crews searched extensively in the area of the Hadlyme Ferry, where the 42-year-old Meriden man went missing about 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
“No further operations are planned at this time pending further developments,” Collibee said.
State Environmental Conservation Police, state police, the Lyme Fire Department, and multiple dive teams began searching the area Sunday night. The search resumed Monday after it was suspended during the overnight hours, Collibee said.
The river was temporarily closed to recreational activities in the area.
