MERIDEN — The former bookkeeper of a local construction company is facing a larceny charge after police said she stole a little over $37,000.

Brittany Delsanto, 28, of 50 Jacobs St., Bristol, was charged Sept. 4 with first-degree larceny and released on $40,000 bond. She appeared in Meriden Superior Court on Wednesday and her case was continued to Oct. 3.

On Sept. 28, 2018, Vincent Nanfito, owner of Nanfito Roofing and Siding and AVT Construction, reported to police that Delsanto wrote herself checks from June 2017 to September 2018. Police determined the total loss to the business was $37,481, according to Delsanto’s arrest warrant. Delsanto was fired in September 2018.

Nanfito gave police a note he said was written by Delsanto admitting to the theft and pledging to repay the amount, the warrant said.
