MERIDEN — A man and woman face charges after police responded to a report of an erratic driver Thursday night.

Christopher Irzyk, 32, of 308 Meetinghouse Lane, Middletown, was charged with driving under the influence and possession of narcotics.

Nathalie Borriello, 20, of 30 Hillwood Lane, Meriden, was charged with possession of narcotics and interfering with police.

On Thursday around 8:30 p.m. a woman called police to report a vehicle was driving erratically, said police spokesman Sgt. Darrin McKay.

Police stopped the car, which was being driven by Irzyk. Officers found heroin or fentanyl in the car, McKay said. A woman, identified as Borriello, was laying in the backseat and was initially unresponsive.

Both were taken into custody. Irzyk failed field sobriety tests and had a blood alcohol level of .12, McKay said. The legal limit is .08.

Irzyk was released on $500 bond and Borriello was released on $1,000 bond. Both are scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Sept. 6.
