MERIDEN — A man faces charges after police said he stole a video game system, video games and about $800 from a home on Akron Street in August.
Angel Manuel Maldonado-Martinez, 26, no address listed, was charged Monday with third-degree burglary and fifth-degree larceny.
On Aug. 11, 2017, residents of an Akron Street home reported a game system, various games and a five-gallon water container filled with about $800 worth of change were all stolen. They provided police with security video of the suspect, who they recognized as Maldonado-Martinez, a friend of the family, said Sgt. Darrin McKay, police spokesman.
When the resident confronted Maldonado-Martinez, he returned the game system and games, but had already cashed in the change, McKay said.
Maldonado-Martinez bond was initially set at $25,000.
