MERIDEN — A man faces charges after police said he led officers on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle in September.

Alexander Spears, 26, was charged by warrant on Thursday with engaging police in pursuit and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended drivers license. His address was not available.

On Sept. 28 around 3 a.m., an officer checked the registration of a car speeding on Willow Street and discovered it was stolen, police said.  The vehicle, being driven by Spears, did not stop after the officer activated his lights and siren. The officer ended the pursuit because of high speeds.

Around 11 p.m. that night, Wallingford police notified the vehicle that they found the car unoccupied, the warrant said. Police identified Spears as the suspect and he admitted not stopping for police.

Spears was arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on Tuesday. Bond was set at $1,000 and he is due back in court on Jan. 15.
