MERIDEN — A Southington man faces charges after police said they found drugs and a gun inside a home in April.
Leslie Keith Shields, 50, of 6 Maple Wood Road, Southington, was charged Tuesday with possession of narcotics, possession with intent to sell, risk of injury to a minor and criminal possession of a firearm.
Police served a search warrant on a home at 91 Fourth St. on April 26, finding a woman and four children in the home. The woman told police Shields left the previous night.
Police found 3.3 grams of crack cocaine, 7.2 grams of marijuana, prescription pills, a Ruger .22 caliber handgun and ammunition, according to Shields’ arrest warrant.
The cocaine was found in a drawer above one of the children’s beds, the warrant said. Shields is a convicted felon and prohibited from owning or possessing firearms. Police obtained an arrest warrant for Shields on May 15.
Shields was was arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on Wednesday. His bond was set at $50,000.
