MERIDEN — A city man faces charges after police said he pulled a woman out of her car and assaulted her.

Michael Watson, 25, of 525 Crown St., was charged Wednesday with third-degree assault, first-degree criminal trespass, violation of a protective order, third-degree criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.

On Nov. 30 around 4 a.m., police responded to a home on Center Street for a report of an assault. A woman reported that when she arrived home around 3:30 a.m. something hit her windshield, breaking the glass. The woman told police Watson then opened her car door, pulled her outside, and began to punch her, according to Watson’s arrest warrant. He fled when the woman screamed for help.

Police noted that there is an active protective order against Watson.

Watson was arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on Wednesday. Bond was set at $75,000 and he is due back in court Jan. 3.
