Meriden police: Teen stole car that was warming up in North Second Street driveway



MERIDEN — A local teen faces charges after police said he stole a woman’s car while it was left running in her driveway Tuesday night. 

Daniel Sanchez, 18, of 76 N. First St., was charged with second-degree larceny. 

Police responded to a North Second Street home around 10 p.m. for a report of a stolen car. Officers spoke with the owner, who said she started her car to let it warm up, went inside, and it was gone when she went back out, according to a police report.

An officer in the area found the vehicle minutes later and conducted a traffic stop. The driver – Sanchez – was taken into custody, the report said. .

Sanchez was arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on Wednesday. Bond was set at $10,000 and he is due back in court on Feb. 1.
