MERIDEN — A man prohibited from possessing firearms faces charges after police said he was found with a loaded gun, crack cocaine and cash early Thursday morning.
Christopher Purvis, 22, of 37 Kenyon St., #303, Hartford, was charged Thursday with criminal possession of a gun, weapon in a motor vehicle and two counts of narcotics possession with intent to sell, among other drug charges.
Just before 1 a.m., an anonymous caller reported an SUV in the driveway of 99 Randolph Ave. with drugs and weapons inside, according to a police report.
Police found Purvis, a passenger in the SUV, in possession of about $2,000 cash and 6.2 grams of crack cocaine, the report said. Officers searched the car and found a loaded 9mm Glock, marijuana, and 19 baggies of crack cocaine which weighed about a quarter of an ounce.
Purvis is a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms, according to the report.
Purvis was arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on Thursday. According to statements in court, Purvis has prior convictions for having a weapon in a motor vehicle and has pending cases for charges including second-degree assault and drug offenses.
Bond was set at $250,000 and the case was transferred to New Haven Superior Court, where Purvis is scheduled to appear on Feb. 20.
