MERIDEN — A local man faces charges after police said he broke into a home last year and stole over $1,200 worth of items, including a TV set.

Shyreefe Cole, 22, of 55 Reservior Ave., was charged Tuesday with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree larceny and third-degree criminal mischief.

On April 1, 2018, a Grove Street resident reported that while she was out at a funeral her front door was broken open. A television, four pairs of sneakers valued between $140 to $200 each, and other clothing was taken, according to Cole’s arrest warrant.

The resident told police Cole was hanging around the home the day of the incident and that she found clothing items in the home that did not belong to anyone . The clothing was sent to the state laboratory for testing. On Feb. 12, a test result came back linking Cole to the clothing, the warrant said.

Cole was arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on Tuesday and released on a promise to appear.
