MERIDEN — A city man faces charges after police said he brandished a knife during a fight at a bar in July.

Ralph Falcon, 56, of 523 N. Colony St., was arrested on Thursday and charged with carrying a dangerous weapon, third-degree assault, second-degree reckless endangerment, and second-degree breach of peace.

On July 29, police responded to Scotty O’Boyles Cafe, 523 N. Colony Road, for a report of a man with a knife, according to an arrest warrant. A man who had suffered a cut to his leg told police a man, later identified as Falcon, pulled out a knife following a dispute. During a struggle, the man’s leg was cut with the knife, and Falcon then left the bar.

Police noted Falcon lives in an apartment above the business. Police recovered the knife and seized it.

Falcon was arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on Thursday. According to statements in court his criminal history dates back to 1979 and includes 17 convictions for charges including assault, robbery and violation of probation.

Bond was set $25,000 and Falcon is due back in court on Aug. 30.
