MERIDEN — A city man faces charges after police said he ran over his wife on Sunday.

Andres Jimenez, 28, of 24 Vale Ave., was charged with second-degree assault with a motor vehicle, breach of peace, first-degree reckless endangerment, evading responsibility, reckless driving, and operating while under suspension.

Police responded to the Vale Avenue home at around 6 a.m. and found a woman lying in the road near the driveway yelling in pain. The woman had tire marks on her shin, according to a police report.

The woman told police her husband, Jimenez, struck her with a Chevrolet Suburban pickup truck. She was taken to Hartford Hospital for treatment of a broken ankle, broken toe and a possible broken pelvis.

Jimenez’s wife said the incident began when she returned home after spending the night at a relative’s home and found a woman in her bed, the report said. Her husband took the woman to the pickup truck and she was run over when she attempted to intervene. Jimenez then drove off.

Authorities located the truck in Waterbury and took Jimenez into custody. He was arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on Monday. Bond was set at $150,000 and he is due back in court on Sept. 5.
