MERIDEN — A local man faces charges after police said he touched a child inappropriately in 2017 and 2018.
A woman also faces charges in connection with the case after police said she did not report the incidents.
Hugo Rosa, 33, of 42 Woodland St., was charged Friday with three counts of fourth-degree sexual assault and four counts of risk of injury to a minor.
Police began investigating on April 29 after the child’s father reported the child told him that Hugo touched her inappropriately on multiple occasions, according to Rosa’s arrest warrant. Hugo is known to the child.
Luz Barreto, 30, was charged with six counts of risk of injury to a minor. The child told police that Barreto did not report the incidents and discouraged her from reporting it, the warrant said.
Rosa and Barreto’s bond was set at $35,000.
