MERIDEN — A local woman faces DUI and drug charges after an incident at a fast food restaurant.

Ashley Esposito, 26, of 1102 E. Main St., Meriden, was charged Wednesday with operating under the influence, four counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of drugs near a prohibited place, and one count each of possession of drug paraphernalia, improper rear lamp and no license plate.

On Wednesday around 1 a.m. an officer noticed a car parked at the McDonald’s on East Main Street pull out without a front license plate and with both headlights off, according to a police report.

Police pulled the car over and reported Esposito was slurring her words and had glossy eyes. Officers searched the car and found baggies with heroin, needles, several glass pipes and a white powder, the report said. At the police station, she did not perform field sobriety tests to standard.

Esposito was arraigned at Meriden Superior Court on Wednesday and released on a promise to appear.
