MERIDEN — A New Jersey man faces sexual assault charges after police said he raped a child on multiple occasions.

Esuebio Rios, 50, of 119 Lincoln St., Fort Lee, New Jersey, was charged Thursday with three counts of first-degree sexual assault, one count of fourth-degree sexual assault and five counts of risk of injury or impairing the morals of a child.

In July, police began investigating a report of a sexual assault. The investigation determined Rios sexually assaulted a child under ten years old on multiple occasions at a home and a hotel.

During his arraignment in Meriden Superior Court on Thursday, his bond was set at $250,000. The judge entered a protective order barring Rios from any contact with the child. He is due to appear in New Haven Superior Court on Jan. 2.
