MERIDEN — A woman faces charges after police said she was caught breaking into a truck on Olive Street late Thursday night.
Sara Vergnetti, 37, no address listed, was charged with third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal trespass, sixth-degree larceny and second-degree breach of peace.
A man at a home on Olive Street called to report that his truck was broken into around 10:30 p.m., said police spokesman Sgt. Darrin McKay. The man said the motion lights outside the home turned on and he noticed the dome light inside his truck was on. When he went outside, he found Vergnetti, inside his truck, McKay said. He tried to detain Vergnetti, but she fled. Officers found her in a nearby grocery store.
She was released on a promise to appear by a bail commissioner, McKay said. She is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Aug. 30.
