MERIDEN — A local woman faces charges after police said she was found asleep behind the wheel of a running car on Monday while holding cocaine and cash.
Candice Marseglia, 42, of 182 Amity St., Meriden, was arrested on Monday and charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, and possession of narcotics near a daycare.
On Monday around 2 a.m. officers on patrol noticed a running car stopped on Cross Street, police spokesman Sgt. Christopher Fry said. Officers approached the car and saw it was in drive and the driver, later identified as Marseglia, was asleep behind the wheel, Fry said.
Marseglia was found with about eight grams of crack cocaine and over $2,000 in cash in her hands, Fry noted. She was taken into custody and arraigned at Meriden Superior Court.
The judge set bond at $50,000, which Marseglia posted and was released. She is due back in court on June 24.
